Category Description
The core skills in this category concern restoring bodywork damage caused by traffic accidents. Damages vary from damage to the technical systems to damages to the bodywork and cosmetic surfaces. Traditionally the work covers the stages from the damage cost estimate until the vehicle is ready to be given to the car painter to be painted. In planning the competition tasks, the objective is to follow the development and trends in autobody technology. In planning the competition tasks, the objective is to follow the development and trends in the autobody technology. The tasks will be planned in a way that they will bring out differences in competitors' skills, and that it will be possible to complete the tasks within the given time limits. This guarantees a fair competition, makes it easier to focus on tasks that measure a person's vocational skills, and facilitates fitting a task into the schedule of each competition.
Autobody and Repair is a national as well as an international category. It has been a national category since 1995 and an international category, in its present form for a few years longer. Competition tasks at both levels are the result of long-term international cooperation and represent the curricula. The tasks are based on the requirements of level 3 (on a scale of 1-3) as described in the curriculum-based training of a vocational degree in Autobody and Repair.
