TaitajaPLUS: Catering


The catering cook task includes the preparation of food to order and theme dishes. Participation in the competition is open to students who have completed the qualification in Catering and the Hotel and Restaurant industry field.
The students perform in work pairs.
They plan, stage, prepare, and display a meal according to the theme, and the given raw materials. They lay the table taking into account the theme, and handle the service.
The students carry out a customer service situation, in which there are 3-4 customers.
The cleaning up and self-evaluation.


Main areas:


Work planning, food preparation, food display, customer service, hygiene, independent work, sustainable development, self-evaluation, cooperation skills.


Order of working:


-Task guidance and getting familiar with the work environment
-Planning and staging of the task
-Food preparation and laying the table
-Customer service and food service
-Tidying up of the work space
-Self-evaluation


One work pair can register for the competition per institute or unit
In case of a possible elimination, it will be organised in accordance with the Taitaja timetable during December-January, notification of the specific time and place will be made December 3, 2010. The specific date for the competition in the category during the Taitaja Finals will be made public after the elimination.
